The American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Instructor Course is designed for healthcare professionals and experienced providers who wish to become certified to teach BLS courses, including BLS for Healthcare Providers and Heartsaver CPR/AED courses. This comprehensive training equips candidates with the knowledge, teaching strategies, and confidence necessary to instruct others in life-saving skills.
Course Objectives:
Learn how to effectively deliver AHA BLS curriculum to a variety of audiences
Understand how to evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback
Gain familiarity with AHA training materials and administrative procedures
Demonstrate proficiency in organizing and leading a BLS course
Prerequisites:
A current American Heart Association BLS Provider certification
Completion of the BLS Instructor Essentials Online Course (included in registration)
Successful completion of the BLS Instructor Candidate Application (provided upon registration)

Guidance on aligning with an AHA Training Center
Upon Completion:
Participants who successfully complete the course and an instructor monitoring session will be certified as AHA BLS Instructors and authorized to teach BLS and Heartsaver CPR/AED courses.

We welcome certified BLS Instructors seeking to transfer from another AHA training site or training center. Instructors must hold a current BLS Instructor certification through the American Heart Association and be in good standing with their previous Training Center. A completed Instructor Transfer Request Form (available through the AHA) is required, along with copies of current instructor and provider cards, documentation of recent course activity, and a letter of good standing or release from the previous site. Once approved, instructors will complete a brief orientation outlining our site-specific policies, expectations, and course management procedures to ensure alignment with AHA guidelines and our training standards.
